Children's Holiday Events | Tea and a Talk | Visits and talks by The Friends of the Salt Museum | Cinema

There is an exciting programme of events at the Salt Museum, throughout the year. There are lots of holiday craft activities to keep you busy this year. Many are connected with our temporary exhibitions so you can get inspirations for your crafts from the displays. Workshops cost £1.30 per child and this includes a free look around the main museum displays. (Adults wanting to look around afterwards cost £2.50) You can drop into any workshop between 10am and 4pm unless stated otherwise.

Holiday events

Looking for something to do with your children or grandchildren during the holidays? Look no further - we have a variety of special activities taking place and they are included in your museum admission price. You may wish to buy a season ticket and take advantage of all of them or just pop in one day. The workshops run from 10am to 4pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays and usually take 45 minutes to an hour to complete. Drop in any time you like between those times. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

A tale of childhood innocence and betrayal, set in Afghanistan.  With subtitles.

Thursday 30 October at 11 am
The Black Cauldron cert U
Ideal for Halloween week, a tale based on Welsh folklore with an evil Horned King, witches and dragons all after a mysterious cauldron.  It's up to young Taran to keep it from their clutches.  A lesser known animated treasure from the Disney studios.

Thursday 30 October at 2pm

Thursday 30 October at 7 for 7.30pm
3:10 to Yuma cert 15
The Western is revitalized in this tale about trust and manipulation.  Starring Christian Bale as a desperate rancher helping to escort a gang leader, (Russell Crowe), across country to the train station where he can be packed off to jail.  Trouble is, the prisoner's henchmen are at large, there's a hostile territory to negotiate and Crowe's a master manipulator with any number of reasons why the rancher should accept the thief's pay-off and spare himself death.

Thursday 20 November at 7 for 7.30pm
Tell No One cert 15
One of the best thrillers of recent years.  8 years ago Alex's wife was murdered.  Today...she emailed him.  A gripping French film that will have you on the edge of your seat.  With subtitles.

Due to capacity, all evening film shows are ticket only and must be booked in advance from the museum. Priority will be given to members. Tel 01606 41331 for more details. The shows take place at 7 for 7.30pm.
